Renowned New Zealand artists Tamaora Walker and Akapita Scally will spend one-on-one time with you, sharing their knowledge and expertise, and guide you through the intricate process of designing, cutting, carving, sanding, and polishing. How It Works
  • You will begin your tour in the Mountain Jade Rotorua educational space, where you will learn the history and significance of New Zealand pounamu
  • You will then be invited into the carving studio to meet local artists and see a jade carving demonstration
  • Afterwards, you will select your own piece of pounamu to string into a necklace
Inclusions
  • This 40-minute experience includes a visit to our jade carving studio, where you will spend exclusive time with local artists and see a live jade carving demonstration.
  • You will get to select a piece of New Zealand jade from a variety of shapes and sizes to string into a necklace.
Time
  • Operates 7 days a week at 10am
  • Tours last 40 minutes.
  • Tours do not operate on Christmas Day, Boxing Day & Public Holidays, or from the 22nd Dec 2023 to 7th Jan 2024.

  • The machinery used in the live jade carving demonstration can be loud and high-pitched. People with sensitive hearing may be affected. Disposable earplugs are provided
  • Please arrive at our carving studio 5 minutes prior to your tour departure time.
  • The is an indoor experience and not affected by the weather
  • This experience is stroller and pram friendly
  • Pre-booking is recommended as spaces are limited
